With the CLIP button in the up position, it's the stock Silicon Soft Clipping we all know, but when you push the button in it removes the diodes from the circuit. Removing the diodes makes the pedal much louder but also you're getting all the character of the op amp, for a more open and dynamic sound. A far cry from the compressed clipping of the stock diodes, but the 4 different combinations this affords you allows for a wide variety of sounds.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eInternally the Envy features a socketed RC4558P chip, one of the iconic chips we've read about in so many forums and product listings.
